Thoracic Surgery Fellowship

Thoracic Surgery Fellowship Programs

Funded fellowship training opportunities are available in Thoracic Surgery to both Canadian and international surgeons.   Typically, this program is for candidates who have completed a residency in Thoracic Surgery.  It does not lead to accreditation by the Royal College.  The program is tailored to the needs of the fellow and varies from 6 months to 2 years in duration.  Exposure to all aspects of general thoracic surgery is available depending on the duration of the fellowship.   We have a separate lung transplant fellowship (link) but 6 months – 1 year can be incorporated into the training if that is desired.

Applications to the fellowship program can be received at any time but decisions will be made for these limited positions in April for the following year.   The interested candidate should send a letter of intent, CV, and 3 reference letters to the fellowship director Dr. Thomas Waddell as early as possible.

Basic requirements for the fellowship program can be found at the University of Toronto Department of Surgery website:    link.
